Shadow and Amy Part 18

Part 17- Truth Hurts

Amy's POV


“My real name isn’t Amy Rose…but… that’s not important really. Because… Amy Rose is who I am now…” Amy sighed as Shadow patiently listened to her words with a sense of interest. “I was born on the other side of the world, far from here. My father… he was a powerful and feared Lord who always wanted his way.”

“What do you mean?”

She turned to look into his red eyes. “I mean… he did anything he wanted to be done. He never cared about the lives of anyone unless they were of great importance really. He… barely even cared about my life. Or my sisters.”

Shadow tilted his head. “Wow… I never knew you had any siblings.”

“Three. My older sister Mila, and my two younger ones… Olivia and Kathrena..”

“And your real name isn’t Amy-“

“I said that doesn’t matter!” She sharply retorted and then turned to fully see him. “Oh god… I-I’m so sorry.”

“No I am…” He raised his hand up to touch her cheek tenderly, feeling her ease back from her rage. “I should press on that. Please, go on.”

She released another stifled sigh and nodded. “My father had us trained. He expected us to be the perfect weapons and mercenaries for his bidding. He would send us off on dangerous missions to bring him objects of great value. But… there was something he had also wished to have. The Chaos Emeralds.”

Shadow blinked with a small hint of rage from what Amy could make out to see and worried that he would burst into anger and throw her out of his home. But no… this was a different anger. “He wanted you… his own flesh and blood to go through so much just for his gain?”

She barely looked back at him. “He’s a cruel man. My youngest sister, Olivia… she.” It almost pained Amy’s throat to speak. “She did such a horrible thing to please our father. She used ancient magic in attempt to find each and every one of the Emerald. And… it made her go insane. She wasn’t strong enough to handle such insight. It tore up her mind… it punished her using such sorcery. Now she’s what my father calls “useless.” He didn’t even care about the fact that she tried so hard to win his gratitude that it turned her into prisoner of her own insanity. Kathrena looks after her now. I haven’t heard from either one of them for so long.

“Mila and I were always known to have been our father’s favorite children. I’m not even sure if we truly all share the same mother. But he enjoyed pitting us against one another. Mila always defeated me when I was young. This encouraged me to better her in every way. She…” Amy clenched her fists around the sheets that draped her. “She would call me the weak one. And that only drove me even more. I practiced and soon enough, we were evenly matched. We would compete on missions, trying to hurry and steal and kill whomever and whatever our father would send us off to. It was a test, see. He really didn’t care about most of the small things that he demanded. In the end, I bettered Mila, and as his champion I was sent to do my true test. I… I had too…”

The two were in silence as Shadow reached over to bring his lover into his arms for a sweet embrace. “I think I know.” She rubbed her back very reassuringly. “You were sent here for the Emeralds. That’s why… you were to seduce Sonic.”

Tears streamed down her face with a struggle to nod. “Yes… and.. I’m sorry Shadow but.. I was younger than I was now. I had met a guy who… who wasn’t like the others that I had encountered. He was nice to me… sweet and saved my life. I only… appeared weak and frail because I only thought that is what he wanted. I felt so different. Like I wasn’t me. And at that bad at first. Feeling defenseless and acting so… lame. But, then over time. The worst thing happened. I fell for Sonic. I really did like him.”

Amy felt strange saying such a thing to the man she had left Sonic for, but he seemed that he wanted to know.

“And… after you stayed here for so long…” Shadow whispered to her ear.

“He… all of them. They became the family I never truly had. Kathrena never wanted anything to do with Mila and I. Olivia barely knew who I was. And Mila… though I always thought she was jealous of having me chosen instead of her… I felt as if one day she would turn against me in attempt to win over father’s damn ranks. Sonic… Knuckles, Tails, Blaze, everyone… you all showed acceptance towards me. I just.. never wanted anyone to know who I really was.” She was cut off by and pulled into a warm kiss from him. She held his body close and moaned with happiness, feeling safe again in his care.

He slowly pulled away and touched noses with her. “I don’t care about the person you were. You’re wonderful in every way, my Rose…”

“Shadow…” He understands…



Sonic’s POV



Sonic handed the newcomer a beer as she requested and sat on the opposite side of her on a chair. Knuckles and Tails sat uncomfortably by her and eyed her down. “So… I’m sorry that Amy’s not here right now.”

She sipped on the beer and shrugged. “Nah, it’s no problem. I got no issue hanging here with you until then.” She gave him a sly smirk that made Sonic smile in a nervous manner.

“Well um… she was just at Shadow’s place.”

“He’s Amy’s boyfriend.” Knuckles piped in with a curt tone at her. “It makes me kind of wonder how Amy’s never mentioned you.”

Mila rolled her eyes with another shrug. “Probably forgot about me when she moved away. It’s sad really. She and I were always like sisters… you know?”

Sonic nodded. “Yeah I get it. Contacts get lost I guess.”

“I like your hair…” Mila smiled and causally spoke.

“Um… t-thank you-“

“Sonic? Can I uh… see you for a moment?” Knuckles sat up and walked out into the other room”

He reluctantly sat up and excused himself out, entering to talk with his old friend.

“What is it? Why are you acting on the defense side?”

“Sonic, man… I’m getting some weird bad vibe from that chick.

“What?” Sonic scoffed. “Like there’s a piece of your Master Emerald stuck in her chest or something.”

“Shut up! Those sensations help me!”

“Knuckles, what’s so weird about a friend of Amy’s coming here and having a drink with us?”

“I dunno Sonic. Maybe on the count of all the weird shit that seems to happen to us? Plus… do you see the way she’s checking you out?”

Now he was even more confused. “No she’s not… a-and even if she was? What’s so weird about that?”
